Expertise and activities

Stephan R. Schulenberg, LL.M. Eur., married with two children, founding partner of the law firm SBS Legal. As the initiator of the “MLM law” specialization in the year 2005, he has extensive experience in all legal matters of network marketing and direct marketing companies. His clients include a broad range from small start-ups to international players, as well as self-employed executives and sales representatives. Attorney Schulenberg is regarded an expert in the field of legal assessments of remuneration plans under the aspect of the prohibition of pyramid or snowball systems according to Sec. 16 (2) UWG [Act against Unfair Competition] and he has decisively contributed to the development of case law in this field.

Attorney Schulenberg regularly leads court proceedings between sales executives or sales representatives against distribution organizations, in addition to regulatory procedures against the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Moreover, Attorney Schulenberg also handles commercial criminal proceedings that are centered on the legal assessment of sales activities.

Career

Attorney Schulenberg completed his studies of law at the University of Bremen and the University of Nice (France). He received a Master’s degree in European and International Law from the Universities of Bremen and Utrecht (Netherlands) with specialization in internet law. He also completed his legal internship in Bremen and Brussels. Following the completion of the 2nd state examination, he began his career as in-house counsel for a network marketing company in Hamburg.

In the year 2005, he founded SBS Legal with Attorney André Schenk and has developed the law firm since then in the area of direct marketing law into an internationally known and highly specialized law firms.
